Introducing Rae’s Place
Kaylen Rolfe was nine years old when she fell in love with the idea of becoming a chef one day. Coming from a family of food lovers, Kaylen grew up with an aunt who enjoyed baking and a grandfather who would cook up a storm and then make a game out of guessing which ingredients he had used.

Today, Kaylen is a qualified chef who has honed her skills working alongside a host of well-known chefs in many kitchens! “Yet, my desire to provide tasty dietary options for all always seemed to be left unsatisfied,” says Kaylen.

Kaylen suffers from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and gluten intolerance. She also has family members who are vegetarian and lactose intolerant. As a result, Kaylen understands the struggle that so many others in her position face when it comes to finding food options that are not only fast to prepare, but also cater for specific dietary needs. And so Kaylen embarked upon a journey to solve this problem, found wonderful partners that loved her ideas, and together, they ‘teamed up’, as Kaylen says, to start Rae’s Place.

Trading from one of the food carts in the courtyard at the CoCreate Hub, Rae’s Place is inspired by Asian flavours, allowing for an array of options that cater for a range of dietary preferences whilst at the same time packing a powerful flavour punch. The menu will expand over time and will be season-based. Rae’s Place also caters for private events – both on-site at the Hub, and off-site.

Visit Rae’s Place at the CoCreate Hub, 7 Victoria Street, Stellenbosch on weekdays between 9:00 and 16:00! For more information, contact Kaylen on 074 236 2242.
